Opportunities have become available for permanent and temporary social workers to join a committed and motivated team who work hard to deliver excellent standards in a positive working environment.

Neath Port Talbot is set in a great location. It boasts some breath-taking countryside and one of the longest sandy beaches in Wales. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities including Afan Forest Park which is recognised worldwide for mountain biking. All this and just a stone's throw away are the stunning beaches of the Gower Peninsular and with excellent travel links to the M4.

We can offer you a very competitive salary and generous terms and conditions including 24 days (pro-rata) annual leave (rising to 31 days after 5 years continuous service) plus 2 extra days at Christmas, pension scheme and sick pay scheme. We also have a Health and Well-being Group with a staff lottery and associated discounts.

The Teams work in partnership with adults who have varied needs, their carers and families to identify what matters to them, devise care and support plans to meet their outcomes, whilst maximising independence where possible. The focus of the teams are to build on the assets of individuals within their own communities and working with colleagues to identify this where appropriate.

We work alongside a range of professionals, including colleagues from Children’s Services to support young persons who are in transition to adulthood, in order to meet their on-going care and support needs.

You will need a knowledge and working practice of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, to include outcome focussed assessment and care planning, knowledge and working practice of Continuing Health Care, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Please note that you must possess a relevant qualification in social work and be registered with Social Care Wales.

Neath Port Talbot Council is totally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our employees are equally committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all vulnerable adults and will take action to safeguard their wellbeing.
